This is Garmoshka, a typeface with an edge and a curve. It's got that classic charm of nostalgia, but a playful take on it. With confident strokes and exaggerated white spaces. My labor of love and obsessiveness.
I really like playing with tension, so I wanted to create a bouncy flow between the characters but have very crisp, straight edges to counter.
With the icons I wanted to aerate the typeface, but maintain the feeling of boxyness and straight edges with soft curves. I kind of wanted them to feel like custom emojis.
